The Anniversary Bracelet

Designer of the Year, 1979

Pieter Andries Hye

The Anniversary Bracelet was conceived around a single number. Twenty-five diamonds — one for each year of the marriage it was made to honor. The curve is intentional, not ornamental: it traces the rises and falls a marriage moves through. The oval, closed and continuous, has no beginning and no end. Platinum or yellow gold run the length of the piece together — two metals, one line.

Articulated links, sized and tuned to the wrist, hold the diamonds at a single visual height. Each diamond faces the eye at the same angle. Light travels the length of the bracelet uninterrupted. The architecture serves the line, never competes with it.
